Romaine Out-raises Hedge Fund Owner Opponent
Liberal Calone accepts thousands from the disgraced former governor;

MEDFORD, NY - Suffolk County Executive candidate Ed Romaine has outraised his hedge fund-owning Democratic opponent, showing over $1.5 million in cash on hand as of July 15, according to New York State Board of Election Records. Romaine entered the County Executive race in March of this year.
Highlights of Romaine’s July campaign financing report filed with the NY State Board of Elections include:
• Fundraising superiority – In just four months since entering the County Executive race, Romaine outraised his opponent by more than $400,000.
• Strong support from local residents and businesses – more than 80 percent of Romaine’s donations were from Suffolk County (less than nine percent of total donations were from outside of Long Island)
• Support by small, local donors– more than 50 percent of Romaine’s donations were for amounts under $500, rather than deep-pocket outside interests
“From day one, I have said this race is about the issues and about the people of Suffolk County. I’m humbled to have received so much support from local residents and small Suffolk County based businesses,” said Romaine. “Our grassroots campaign to make our streets safer, control taxes and improve our economy has resonated with our Suffolk families, and I appreciate their support.”
In contrast, Democratic opponent David Calone’s filing is rife with personal loans the deep-pocketed candidate has made to himself to prop up his campaign to appear to be better funded. Highlights of Calone’s filing include:
• Deceptive total to hide anemic support and funding – since entering the race, Calone has been forced to infuse his coffers with $750,00 in loans made to his own candidacy in order to appear to have support
• Heavy reliance on outside funding – Calone reported over $207,000 in donations from outside of New York State, with more than 59% of his total fundraising for the period coming from donors outside of Suffolk
• Far left fundraising assistance from controversial sources – Calone reported $10,000 in donations from disgraced former NYS Democratic Governor Elliot Spitzer, and had a fundraiser hosted by Colorado Governor Jared Polis who came under scrutiny for tax evasion charges during his own campaign.
“Calone has a failed record of costing local families and businesses money while enriching himself and his ivy league friends out of state through financing schemes designed to avoid paying a fair share of taxes on their gains,” said Jesse Garcia. “Calone’s dangerous history of support of and from ultra-woke, far-left officials like Alvin Bragg, Governor Kathy Hochul, and Elliot Spitzer have chased away local, small donors and forced him to scramble for funding out of state and from loans to his own campaign.”
