PALUMBO CALLS FOR GOVERNOR TO RELEASE GUIDANCE AND PLAN ON REINSTITUTING NURSING HOME VISITS
Assemblyman and NYS Senate Candidate, Anthony Palumbo (R,C,I,Ref-New Suffolk) is calling on the governor and New York State Health Commissioner Howard Zucker to release information and guidance on when family members will be able to visit nursing home residents. Both the governor and health commissioner have been criticized recently for their policy which mandated nursing homes to accept and take in residents who were COVID-19 positive.
“I have been hearing from an increased number of constituents that are longing to see their loved ones in nursing homes,” said Palumbo. “Since March, nursing homes across the state have not been allowing visitors due to the COVID-19 pandemic in an attempt to protect society’s most vulnerable. As I have stated before, health and safety remain my main concern, but I think it is time that the governor begin to release guidance and policy on how how family and friends can safely visit their loved ones.”
